Howdy. You’ve reached the website of Jack Busch, freelance writer and Pittsburgh resident. If you’re looking for the Jack Busch who owns a supposedly successful pool cleaning enterprise, I apologize. If you ever find him, please let him know that I’ve bought this domain out from under his nose. If you’re here because you are truly, genuinely interested in me, well, I couldn’t be more thrilled.

So, what brings you here? Are you a friend or family member? If yes, then I’m sorry I haven’t called lately. I have like 12 minutes total on my cell phone plan and I’m sharing half of those with the wife. But I still love you immensely.

If you’re here on business, hey, that’s great. Maybe we can work out something where I can afford a few more cell phone minutes to call my mother and you can get some pretty awesome words on your website or in your publication. It’s a win-win situation.

Or maybe I’ve commented on your blog or dropped you an e-mail about how much I dig your latest article and you’re wondering if I’m some kind of self-promoting spammer. And to that, I can answer you very earnestly: I am not.

Here’s the thing – I don’t do spam. I don’t sell spam. I don’t write spam because I sure as hell don’t like to read spam. But who does? Nobody. And that’s how I define spam.

Spam, to me, is anything you find in your e-mail inbox or your web browser that you don’t want to be looking at.

But what does that have to do with your business or blog, you ask? Everything.

As professionals working on the web, we all understand that content is king. That truism’s being shouted from the rooftops, slipped into fortune cookies and tattooed on the asses of the new media, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that a dangerous majority of those that wield the power to release information onto the web only received half the message. The full message should read quality content is king.

And what exactly is quality content? Simple – it’s:

  • Content that entertains

    • Content that informs

      • Content that inspires

…and most importantly…

Content that sells.

It’s the polar opposite of spam. It’s something that readers want to be looking at. It’s something that galvanizes readers to “subscribe to our e-mail newsletter” or “call for a free consultation” or “Tweet this article!”

To get quality content, you need a writer. That’s where I can help you. My job isn’t to get all the commas and the semicolons in all the right places (though I certainly will). Nor is it my job to reword your brochure for your website. My job is to strike at the heart of what you stand for and present it in a compelling way to the reader so that they will pick up that phone or click that button.

This isn’t always easy. Not everything a person can do to make a living is immediately interesting to a wide audience. But identifying the key to reaching your audience is my specialty. Just like your service needs to offer a unique value to your customer, your content needs to offer a definitive hook for the reader. You’ve already got the first half of that equation nailed down – let me figure out the rest.

Drop me a line or give me a call at 1-816-WRITE-IT (that’s 1-816-974-8348 for anyone calling from a rotary phone) and we’ll talk about how we can fill your website, blog or sales letter with high quality content.
